Ben Newman
Ben studied Mathematics and German at the University of Bristol in the UK and graduated with a Masters of Mathematics. During this four-year course, he spent one year living and studying in Germany, where he enriched his knowledge of the German culture and language.
Drawn to China by a sense of adventure and challenge, Ben has been involved in the education of young adults and college students for over three years. He has delivered skills and language training in Sichuan and Jiangsu, and provided extra-curricular and further education support for all those involved.
Ben has considerable experience in the field of curriculum development and has worked for Jiangsu Education Services for International Exchange in developing an ICT and maths course for the Jiangsu College for International Education. He fully understands the needs of both students and teachers and has been able to successfully integrate all their requirements.
Ben is known for his enthusiastic and dedicated attitude towards his work and is respected for his honesty and interpersonal skills. His willingness to be proactive in meeting clients’ needs is equally matched by his energy and drive for quality.
Ben studied Chinese at Nanjing Normal University and would describe his Chinese communication skills as intermediate. He enjoys all aspects of Chinese culture, particularly practicing Tai Qi, playing badminton and mahjong, and of course enjoying the delicious local cuisine!

Amanda Xie
Amanda was born in Nanjing, and graduated from Nanjing Normal University with a major in English Teaching.
During her time at university, Amanda participated in and helped organize the annual Nanjing English Language Festival. From this experience, she learned how to efficiently work as a member of a team and how to manage and organize people and resources. She has also worked as a part-time English language tutor, which taught her patience and independence.
Amanda is always looking for tasks that challenge her and for opportunities to learn and to develop both her personal and professional skills. Amanda is known for only ever being satisfied with results when they are as perfect as she can make them. She is an active, energetic and easy-going woman who is very passionate about her work and equally so about her hobbies.
Amanda learned to play the guzheng when she was only nine years old, and has since continued to practice regularly. In order to relax she likes to surf the Internet and watch films. Her other interests include travelling, discovering new places and cultures and enjoying Nanjing’s local cuisine.
